TRADITIONAL "BALTIMORE" ALBUM: Start a Baltimore Album Quilt; make a pillow or a wall hanging—whatever you choose. Blocks have been carefully selected to include: reverse appliqué, freezer paper appliqué, ¼” stems, 3 ruched flower techniques, dimensional appliqué, perfect circles, embellishments and Broderie Perse. STAR FLOWER QUILT: This class from Jinny Beyer's Quiltmaking by Hand is great for beginners and those wishing to continue with hand piecing. Techniques that will be covered are template and rotary cutting, precision marking, hand piecing of half square triangles, eight pointed star, curved pieces, and mitered corners using Jinny Beyer fabrics. The construction of this quilt looks harder than it actually is. Hand piecing can be very relaxing as well as a great portable project for those on the go. This 2nd Saturday series includes the $5.00 quilt (with free blocks), which are 9” traditional pieced blocks (fabric for two blocks, no background included). The appliqué, which is offered separately, includes a variety of appliqué blocks with pieced settings for the ”Classic Nutcracker” with pattern and fabric for appliqué $11.00 (Block includes background). Come join the fun…you won’t be sorry. No sewing required on 2nd Saturday. NOTE: Sept 6, starting date is the first Saturday of Sept (we will be at Camp the 2nd Sat, this is an EXCEPTION TO THE RULE)

We are in a time when quilting is extra important in our lives. Sewing will relieve stress and satisfy our creative urges. The companionship of fellow quilters who enjoy sharing knowledge and friendship gives a sense of belonging and “centers us”.

During an economic slowdown (?) choose to buy wisely to continue the enjoyment of fabric and quilting. Buy for a specific project; use your stash and purchase borders or sashing to jazz up your quilt. Whatever you select and sew, be sure to HAVE FUN. I just read that you can add 8 years to you life by laughing a lot. I like it and so will you.
